I left Portland, OR 35 years ago, but I love being from there.
It gave me solid bones and a weird confidence to dive into Hollywood.
Let's just say my 1990s black platform booties have the stories on how I got here. It's been a lot of hustle from the ground up, but the biggest blessing is finding good people along the journey that believe in you and help propel you forward. I did not know I could make a career doing what I love. I try to pay it forward as a mentor and I surround myself with more good peeps. Creation gets me excited. I get goosebumps when the actor smiles in the mirror and we both know. I get a rush reading a weird wardrobe note in the script that others might see as un-doable. I am proud of my assistants thriving without me cuz I know I am responsible. I relish in a tight budget making lewks appear expensive. Whether I am making a family of 4 look real and relatable while selling cereal, or building a "homemade" looking Transformer costume out of cardboard and tape, or giving 3 twenty-something gal pals different aspirational styles while still looking organically like friends....It's all fun, it's all creative, it's all a story.
Let's make beautiful stories together...
